LCD or Laser or Hologram Rolodex

This is Chris's idea, so I don't think I'm doing it justice, but it would be an address book that would look like a regular old fashioned Rolodex, but instead of having cards, it would project the numbers in the air using lights or maybe lasers. I think that's the idea, anyway. It would be kind of like that light clock that Shane and Denise gave us that projected the time into the air -- I don't know how it works, really, and if it would project on the wall or somehow just project in the air like a hologram.
Anyway, it would be cool!

Yeah, so my original thought was just an LCD panel in place of the paper cards, with a knob on the side to 'flip' virtually through the records. But the laser thing is way cooler.
I was thinking the other key feature could be Bluetooth so you could auto sync your address book from a computer or cell phone.

Lasers are always way cooler.

You could always go with POV to get a proof of concept togeather. :)

Thanks for the comment, Bilby, but I'm confused -- what does your comment mean?

Sorry - I mean persistance of vision. That trick with the LED lights where you make them swing back and forth, so that they seem to create an image that hangs in the air - you can't see the bar the lights are attached to, but you can see lights themselves. It is normally used to display the time, but people use the trick to show messages or pictures on spinning bike wheels, or with little LED bracelets that make message appear magically when they move their arm back and forth in the air.
Heaps of fun. :) And reasonably easy to create.

OK! Cool -- that makes sense and I'm glad to have the technology explained a little bit (I was thinking your comment had to do with the PBS show or something otherwise film related). If we go into production, you get joint credits! Now I'm going to go correct my spelling of "laser."
