Air Freshening Skunks

| | Comments (4)

In this age of plastic surgery and biological modifications, there's no reason to put up with stinky skunks in the neighborhood any more, and they're so darned cute, who wants to kill them?

We should be able to pay for a service that will trap these skunks, remove their stink sacs, and replace them with things that released nice smells like roses and lavender. That way, when you startled a skunk in your backyard, it would be a pleasure! Skunks could smell as cute as they look!

You might have to insert a new suppository every once in awhile, and maybe you'd pay the same people to do it -- it could be an ongoing service like getting your lawn done.

Or you might tame them to make them delightful indoor pets -- one for the kitchen and one for the bathroom!

Hi! I just came across this idea and had to comment. Years ago I used to think that I was odd. Then I met a skunk farming couple, and realised that I could never be that strange. I'm not sure if I should be disappointed or not. At any rate, they explained that their skunks were de-skunked, as it were. They also explained that this meant the skunks were absolutly defenseless, and thus easy prey to local dogs. So although I like the idea, I suspect that it would result in very unfortunate side effects.

Sorry to correct you on this one - normally I wouldn't, as I love cool ideas, and anyone who can come up with gourmet lipstick is worth considerable respect. But I was so pleased with the source of my information that I just had to share. :)

Anyway, please keep publishing your ideas - they make for enjoyable (and mind-expanding) reading.

Spraying anything noxious works against dogs. Normally de-stunk skunks don't have anything to spray. But if they were spraying lavender water, I expect the dogs would leave them alone. We could figure out a spray that smelled good to humans but would scare dogs anyway.

Good points, both -- how about bitter apple? dogs don't like it, and I think it smells pretty good.

Bitter apple should work. Indeed, I think there is something to that - a scent that will both annoy dogs and please us. Given that the reverse is so often true, I'm sure that something will meet the criteria.
