Wierd Fish Head
We saw this dead fish at the beach about a month ago. Funny colors, eh?

It is a cabazone (yes, that would be big head in Spanish). It has this incredible bluish-green flesh that when cooked turns white and quite delectible. The male broods the eggs (which are toxic) the spines are poisonous.
More than you want to know:
A type of sculpin, and, more specifically a scorpionfish (Scorpaenichthys marmoratus). It is classified as a cottidae, or sculpin family member. It has a lot of common names along the pacific rim, but cabezone is the most common. It in habits coastal rocks down to about 60ft or so. (It is not technically a rock fish as these are Sebastes.
