Employee of the Moment Mirror

I had a job interview this morning (it would be a slight change in title for basically the same organizations, so it's not really a big deal) and one of the questions they asked me was: "what job was the most fun for you?" That's actually a really good question -- revealing, but non-confrontational -- unfortunately I had a hard time answering it at the time. Now that I've had some time to think it over, I wish I'd said Seattle Rape Relief, because that actually WAS the job I enjoyed most. It was a really fun group of people doing good work, andmy goofy ideas were tolerated -- wearing an apron (in liu of the not-yet-manufactured office utility belt), saying irreverant things about sexual assault, competing in softball games in a skirt, talking loudly about my sex life on the job, etc. This was true at least for awhile, before everything went to hell and we all quit and the place folded. Did I mention that I led the "Take Back the Night" march one year? That is, I walked at the head of it for awhile with the bullhorn. Until I got tired. We marched really fast!

Anyway, one of the ideas I had while there, which I successfully executed, was an "employee of the moment" mirror. This was a mirror that I taped a little sign to that said EMPLOYEE OF THE MOMENT. I had it up in my little work area so I could see who was coming up from behind me while I was at the computer, and this also meant I was the one most often reflected in it. It was a real morale booster. I think you could sell these as gag gifts at, like, Spencer Gifts or something. Or you could just make your own like I did.
