Old Great Idea: Personalizable Hold Music

When you called an office and were put on hold, the first thing the system would ask you to do is say your name into the phone. Then, while you were on hold, the system would talk to you and play music using your name: "You're a valued customer [Mary], please continue to hold."

I think this would be technologically feasible to do in the computer generated voice because of the places you call where the system will say, "I heard you say 'Wednesday' is that correct?" (or whatever). But it would be funnier if they just used a little recording of your own voice saying your own name back to you. But that would turn people off, since everyone hates the sound of their own voice when recorded -- except rock stars, I guess. Actually, I don't personally like it when strangers use my name, but the premise of this idea is that people do and will stick around longer on hold if they feel like they're getting personal service. I was thinking that kids would have fun with it, too, saying words other than their name into the system.
