The Superfund Story that Was Too Shocking to Blog About!
Those of you who have followed my adventures with Pica at the superfund site can read it in the form of a photo essay here at limetea.net -- including the story that was too shocking to merely blog about! I'm 'published'!!
There are undoubtedly better things to read on the site, so look around!
(and then come back and buy some stuff from my cafepress.com shop!

That is a great story, Mary! You should do more writing like that. It had humor, pathos, lots of shit, and drama! I'm impressed, Ms. Mary.

Dang, Mary, that's fantastic! You really are an incredibly brilliant writer. And some kind of academic, to boot.

This was excellent!! I especially liked the Machine in the Garden part. I was disappointed to learn that I had already heard the shocking story (I think) -- whether it was the potential childmolester or your mom pooing in the woods. But great article!

Thank you all so much for your kind comments!
I should say that the article would be more complete if it included reference to Richard Heyman's excellent article, "Postindustrial Park or Bourgeois Playground? Preservation and Urban Restructuring at Seattle's Gas Works Park" which helped inform me on the larger political context of preservation and land use.

Absofreakinbrilliant!!!
However, the pessimist in me predicts that when Disney turns your story into a movie, they'll insist on a plot that involves the dog a little more (e.g., dog hurts foot, or dog alerts humans of superfund danger by barking once for yes and two for no, or dog sniffs shit and finds key to Al Capone's vault, or dog drinks wine from Al Capone's vault and gets drunk and leaves a big pile of puke that kind of looks like squash soup).
Or does that mean I'm an optimist???
